REF Wild Turkey Hunt
Urban Legend Information
A "Skilled Scavenger Hunt", this valley event is something like "History Class meets the Amazing Race". Test your street smarts and navigational skills while earning points!
The first wave of participants/teams will start at 9 a.m. and continue every few minutes, closing at 11:00 a.m.
You and/or your team will receive an undisclosed map just prior to the start. You choose the route and locations to visit to earn the most points within a 45-minute time limit!
Review your compass and map reading skills at www.thecompassstore.com/howtousemapa.html Compasses are not mandatory but are recommended as they will help you answer questions more quickly.
Team prizes to be announced. Check back here frequently for updates. Woo-hoo!

Rules
- Travel under your own power only.
- If you register as a team you must stay within 10 meters of each other at all times. (All minors must be accompanied by an Adult.)
- Checkpoints will not be manned. Upon arriving at the checkpoint location you will need to answer a question from your “report card” that can only be answered at the location. You may not ask other participants for answers, phone anybody for answers, or guess.
- Stay off of private property. Don't cut across people’s lawns or through their yards. Be back on time. The time you turn in your scoring sheet will be noted as your return time; you may not make changes or additions to the report card after you turn it in. Points will be deducted for each minute you are late.
- Be courteous to bystanders.
- Teams must obey all laws and rules of the road. Violating these rules will result in automatic disqualification. Course marshals will be on the course enforcing the above rules of the “Hunt.”
- Check in at the finish, even if you decide you don't want your score tallied. This lets us know that you have returned safely and can begin to enjoy the Health Expo.

Safety
The only significant hazard is traffic. This is a serious concern if you are trying to be competitive. It is extremely easy to run into the street with your nose in your map. Be careful and cross only at intersections and crosswalks!
